Diarrhoea

When someone gets diarrhoea, sometimes the solution is so easy, we
wonder why anyone has to suffer.

If you google "BRATY" you find that the solution is simply to take

Bananas
Rice
Apple
Toast / Tea
Yoghurt

The websites show postings by people who claim the method doesn't work
for them or their babies or children.

Of all the ingredients here, the most potent is Rice, but not in the
usual form we eat it in, and neither would rice porridge work too well.

The secret is in rice water.

This is already known in this region. Ask your maids -- Sri Lankan,
Indonesian, Filipina and they would know about it.

My Malaysian relatives know about it.

(My mother) knew about it. When Dr Albert Winsemius came to Singapore
for a farewell and thank you dinner in his honour, he brought along his
wife Aly and his granddaughter, Jolijn. Both women came down with very
bad gastroenteritis. They saw the doctor who gave them medication. It
was slow to work.

Mother boiled some rice in lots of water and went to their hotel with
two 1.5L bottles of rice water.

I cringed in shame at the offer of this folk remedy, which seemed so
primitive to me. Never heard of this cure before. To my surprise, it
worked, and they were even able to go out for dinner the next day. Both
were exclaiming how the rice water did the trick of making them well
again. Well, lucky it worked, I thought to myself.

I was discussing this some years back with Kim Ng, the ex-matron of KK
Hospital. She said, yes, that is what Professor Wong Hock Boon, the
notable paediatrician teaches. I was shocked and made some comment how
could he? It was common knowledge so what had he to do with it?

Many months later, I regretted laughing at it. Dr Christina Shanta
Emmanuel, who is the CEO of...uh, which group I have forgotten. Either
National Health Group, or Polyclinics, or whatever.. regarded me
seriously when I brought up the topic like it was good fun. She said
that Prof Wong Hock Boon had presented a paper on it. At some
conference. After he had done clinical trials.

Then his results were published in the Lancet, the Medical Journal all
doctors read. In fact, said Shanta, he was credited for saving the lives
of 2 million African babies by this method.

Ah, so! I am impressed.

It is rice water and not rice, that does the trick. I have found it
effective again and again. You take a handful of rice and boil it in a
large saucepan with lots of water. Like three or four large glasses.
Then you cool that and drink the water. If you are in a hurry to relieve
the ailing person, take the saucepan off the fire and dunk it in a
frying pan or basin of cool water with ice cubes if necessary.

This gives the patient a chance to drink the rice water sooner and cure
himself or herself sooner.

When drinking the rice water, make sure there is lots of it. You have to
tell the patient that enough water must go in to line your guts from
throat to other end, all 10 to 12 metres of it. If you take rice, it
stays in the stomach. If you take broth, some of it may go into the
small intestine.

But if you take rice water, it will carry rice grains to every inch of
your small and large intestine to the end where the problem is.

How does it work? Even Prof Wong Hock Boon doesn't know. Read the
attached file. Or go to

It is good to pass on the news to everyone you know because the
complaint is so common and people suffer unnecessarily. You would be
doing your friends a great favour to relieve them of their misery when
the occasion arises.

Asparagus for Cancer

Several years ago, I had a man seeking asparagus for a friend who had cancer. He gave me a photocopied copy of an article, entitled,

`Asparagus for cancer' printed in Cancer News Journal, December 1979.

I will share it here, just as it was shared with me: 'I am a biochemist, and have specialized in the relation of diet to health for over 50 years. Several years ago, I learned of the discovery of Richard R. Vensal, D.D.S. that asparagus might cure cancer.

Since then, I have worked with him on his project. We have accumulated a number of favourable case histories.

Here are a few examples:

Case No. 1,
A man with an almost hopeless case of Hodgkin's disease (cancer of the lymph glands) who was completely incapacitated. Within 1 year of starting the asparagus therapy, his doctors were unable to detect any signs of cancer, and he was back on a schedule ofstrenuous exercise.

Case No. 2,
A successful businessman 68 years old who suffered from cancer of the bladder for 16 years. After years of medical treatments, including radiation without improvement, he went on asparagus. Within 3 months, examinations revealed that his bladder tumor had disappeared and that his kidneys were normal.

Case No. 3,
a man who had lung cancer. On March 5th 1971, he was put on the operating table where they found lung cancer so widely spread that it was inoperable. The surgeon sewed him up and declared his case hopeless. On April 5th he heard about the asparagus therapy and immediately started taking it. By August, x-ray pictures revealed that all signs of the cancer had disappeared. He is back at his regular business routine.

Case No. 4,
A woman who was troubled for a number of years with skin cancer. She finally developed different skin cancers which were diagnosed by asking specialist as advanced. Within 3 months after starting on asparagus, her skin specialist said that her skin looked fine and nomore skin lesions.
This woman reported that the asparagus therapy also cured her kidney disease, which started in 1949. She had over 10 operations for kidney stones, and was receiving government disability payments for an inoperable, terminal, kidney condition. She attributes the cure of this kidney trouble entirely to the asparagus.

I was not surprised at this result, as `The elements of Materia Medica', edited in 1854 by a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania , stated that asparagus was used as a popular remedy for kidney stones. He even referred to experiments, in 1739, on the power of asparagus in dissolving stones.

We would have other case histories but the medical establishment has interfered with our obtaining some of the records. I am therefore appealing to readers to spread this good news and help us to gather a large number of case histories that will overwhelm the medical skeptics about this unbelievably simple and natural remedy. For the treatment, asparagus should be cooked before using, and therefore canned asparagus is just as good as fresh.

I have corresponded with the two leading canners of asparagus, Giant Giant and Stokely, and I am satisfied that these brands contain no pesticides or preservatives.

PROCEDURE:
1) Place the cooked asparagus in a blender and liquefy to make a puree, and store in the refrigerator.

2) Give the patient 4 full tablespoons twice daily, morning and evening.

Patients usually show some improvement in from 2-4 weeks. It can be diluted with water and used as a cold or hot drink. This suggested dosage is based on present experience, but certainly larger amounts can do no harm and may be needed in some cases.

As a biochemist I am convinced of the old saying that `what cures can prevent'. Based on this theory, my wife and I have been using asparagus puree as a beverage with our meals..

We take 2 tablespoons diluted in water to suit our taste with breakfast and with dinner. I take mine hot and my wife prefers hers cold.

For years we have made it a practice to have blood
surveys taken as part of our regular checkups.

The last blood survey, taken by a medical doctor who specializes in the nutritional approach to health, showed substantial improvements in all categories over the last one, and we can attribute these
improvements to nothing but the asparagus drink...

As a biochemist, I have made an extensive study of all aspects of cancer, and all of the proposed cures. As a result, I am convinced that asparagus fits in better with the latest theories about cancer. Asparagus contains a good supply of protein called histones, which are believed to be active in controlling cell growth. For that reason, I believe asparagus can be said to contain a substance that I call cell growth normalizer.. That accounts for its actio n on cancer and inacting as a general body tonic. In any event, regardless of theory, asparagus used as we suggest, is a harmless substance.

The FDA cannot prevent you from using it and it may do you much good.. It has been reported by the US National Cancer Institute, that asparagus is the highest tested food containing glutathione, which is considered one of the body's most potent anticarcinogens and antioxidants.

Please spread the news...

....the most unselfish act one can ever do is paying forward all the kindness one has received even to the most undeserved person

Do you wear bra for the whole day and even at home

I quite support the facts mentioned. Also if you have to wear , Not too tight and No artificial fabrics.

Don't know how true this article is. But still, I am forwarding it so that you too read about it and decide what's best to be done.

How about this? The Ibans and Aboriginies got it right from the start.

Do you wear bra for the whole day and even at home? I think we should go bra-free after reading this article. It's a message for your health. Please pass this to all female friends you know. I think it's important to be aware of the following facts...

For years, a lot of articles with regards to the causes of breast cancer point to an unhealthy diet and lack of exercise as the major links to this disease which happens to be the biggest killer among women during these last two decades.

These studies would have been most credible if it were not for the fact that several women including Linda McCartney who have been religious vegetarians and exercise- freaks have also been unfortunate in suffering breast cancer.

Perhaps the most convincing article I have ever read with regards to this matter is one which links breast cancer to the wearing of bras. In the 'Bra and Breast Cancer Study' in the United States , It was discovered that women with breast cancer had a history of sporting tighter and longer bra-wearing than did the women who had not (yet) developed the disease.

In fact, virtually the entire cancer group wore bras over 12 hours. When a woman wears a tight bra, she subjects her breasts to pressure, closing off the lymphatic pathway from the breast to the nodes. This causes fluid built-up swelling, tenderness and cyst formation. Toxins must be flushed out via the lymphatic. However, a bra-constricted breast cannot adequately perform this cleansing process, resulting in toxin accumulation in the breast.

Truthfully, bras are creating droopy, weak breasts....the breast relies on the bras for artificial support; the body loses its ability to support the breast by itself. This is why many women feel uncomfortable without the bra.

What is the solution to breast cancer then? DON'T WEAR A TIGHT BRA! And maybe sleep without them..

There is a remarkable success rate for recovery from fibrocystic breast disease within 10 days to two weeks of going bra-free.. Many women have tried going bra-less and recorded a miraculous improvement in their health! Bra burning is no longer a feminist issue....It is now a battle between life and death. We should make others more aware of the hazards of wearing them......

To create awareness Malaysian Women welfare organization declare Sundays as Bra free day in Malaysia .

Eat For Your Perfect Weight!

In order to lose weight and promote health you must abandon dieting and learn to eat. It's really that simple! Sometimes we tend to think of food as the enemy and try to figure out ways we can avoid it and eat less. The answer is not to eat less, but eat more! More of the proper foods. Life giving, nourishing foods that will invigorate your body, create radiant health and boost your metabolism and well being. If you want to eat only junk foods, loaded with salt, sugar, unhealthy fats, and are just trying to figure out how to eat lesser amounts of these foods without adding healthy life giving foods, you will fail in your quest to lose weight and create a healthy body.

Food choices are loaded with emotional triggers, cravings, comfort, and are the basis of most social gatherings with family and friends. No wonder it's such a minefield of opinions, heated discussions and denial! After all, who wants to crush cherished family traditions? Eat hardly anything at celebrations? No one! The truth is you don't have to. Yes, you might need to make some changes in recipes to create a healthier version, but in the end it will be better and more loved. When at a celebration, or out with friends, there are plenty of delicious choices once you are armed with the information you need to detect hidden ingredients. Knowledge is power, especially with food.

There are things to keep in mind when changing your eating habits. First eat only foods you enjoy. Now you might be thinking, "I really enjoy cake, and fried chicken, and triple cheese pizza and that's not helping me lose weight!" I understand, but what I mean is don't force yourself into a crazy diet of celery sticks and cottage cheese when you can barely stand them. Instead approach the idea of changing your diet to focus on what you can have, not what you can't. How about a fabulous breakfast of whole eggs, scrambled in butter with some of your favorite vegetables and couple of slices of sprouted grain toast? How about a juicy hamburger or steak for lunch or dinner? You can satisfy your pizza craving by making your own and loading it with healthy ingredients. When your focus is on eating a lot of the right kind of foods, you may just find that a big slice of cake is not so enjoyable anymore. Hard to believe I know, but real food really is the cure for cravings.

Another very important tip is this: Do not go cold turkey! Don't try to change all of your habits in a day! Try adding one change a week. Breakfast is a great place to start because you will notice very quickly how a power packed start to the day will make you feel. Try those eggs scrambled in butter! Make sure you eat both pieces of that healthy bread and add in some lean protein like chicken or fish, or even steak. Small steps make change easier.

However you approach a new eating plan, keep in mind you should never go hungry! Feed your body consistently throughout the day. Between meals eat healthy snack foods like whole fruits, raw nuts and crunchy vegetables. Eat a lot of healthy food and stop worrying about calories!

Tips For Dry Skin

Dry skin can be an annoyance, especially during the winter months when it can go all itchy and flaky on you. In this article we'll discuss some of the best beauty tips for dry skin, with special focus on the face.

1. Avoid scorching hot baths or showers

Extremely hot water can actually lead to your skin losing moisture as the lipid barriers in the skin are broken down. Instead of using hot water, use lukewarm water. For the face, baths obviously aren't that big a problem. If you simply can't go without that hot shower in winter though, try to limit it to a few minutes instead of half an hour.

Once you're done, apply your moisturizing cream as quickly as possible.

2. Avoid using drying soaps

When washing your face, do not use regular soap. Use a gentle, moisturizing soap or face wash that will not strip the natural oils from your skin.

The following beauty tips for dry skin pertain to topical skin care.

3. Use both a day and night cream

While the use of a day cream goes without saying, the importance of a night cream is often overlooked. You're not out in the sun, you're just lying in bed. No problem, right?

Wrong. Using a night cream rich in natural moisturizing oils and emollients will help your skin to stay hydrated throughout the night. Avocado oil and shea butter are excellent natural moisturizers that closely resemble your skin's natural oils. These oils all make for a perfect moisturizer for dry skin.

Since your body also repairs itself while you sleep, the extra nutrients a quality night cream provides can aid your skin during this natural repair process.

4. Increase the levels of hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is found naturally in our bodies. For the skin, HA plays a major role in the hydration of the skin. It can absorb many times its own weight in water, not only hydrating your skin, but also increasing its volume. This helps to give a smoother appearance to the skin.

You can raise the levels of HA in your skin naturally by using skin care that contains an ingredient like Phytessence Wakame. This inhibits the enzyme hyaluronidase, which breaks down HA in the skin. In doing so, more HA becomes naturally available in your skin.

5. Use a hydrating mask

A specially formulated hydrating mask will deeply hydrate and repair your skin. Typically you'll only need to use this type of mask once every two weeks.

Be sure to apply these beauty tips for dry skin in your day to day skin care regime, and you should notice a clear improvement in your skin condition.

cleaning Face to Prevent Acne

When you start to get acne there are a few things that people tell you. Don't eat junk food? Lower your stress level? Put creams on your pimples? Take tetracycline? Well all of these ideas are great but the one core is to make sure that you keep your skin clean. Washing and keeping your skin to keep it clean is not going to clear up all of your acne but it can go a long way to taking good care of your skin. Here are some things to think about when you are washing your skin.

Wash early and often. It is important to wash your face and if you have acne on your chest and shoulders to keep these clean by washing them first thing in the morning and also at noon, after school, and in the evening before bed. This may seem a little often but you do want to make sure that your skin never has excess oils or that your pores can become clogged.

Wash with very clean soap. It is almost good enough to clean your skin just with water to protect against acne because many soaps can irritate your skin more than they help and your want to care for your skin, not dry it out. My favorites are hibitane for its antibacterial features or just plain, unscented glycerine soap. Remember that even if your skin is really oily it is still a very good idea not to dry it out.

Pat your skin dry. We seem to be taught at some point to rub our skin to dry it but this is very hard on your skin. Instead make sure that you are just patting your skin dry instead of ever rubbing. I have been doing this for many years now and am convinced that my face looks a lot younger than it should because of patting my face and not rubbing it.

Washing your face for acne is one of those important things that you can do to take care of your acne problems. Try following these rules for a few days and be sure to notice if your skin gets too dry. If your skin gets dry or if it is too dry in the first place then you will want to splash water on your face instead of washing your face during the day and just use mild soap for your acne morning and night.

Are these tips all you need to prevent acne? If not you should be interested in a proven method to rid you of your acne. Then read my review of a best acne treatment. Another great product I have reviewed is Acnezine.

Makeup Beauty Tips

Photobucket
Makeup has been around for centuries; even Cleopatra in ancient Egypt decorated her face. Women throughout history have regarded makeup as essential. Make up does not do magic, it only enhances the beauty that you already have.
Whether you are a stay-at-home mom, a career woman, a teenager, or a doting grandmother, here are some makeup and beauty tips for you.
Exercise and Diet
Naturally, you need to take care of your body in order to have that healthy glowing skin. Exercise and proper diet is still required. The stress that your body feels can be very much reflected on your face, so make sure to de-stress yourself. Hydration is also important, drink more than the required 8 glasses of water a day.

Follow a skin care regimen. The simplest is the 3-step method: cleanse, tone and moisturize.
Photobucket
Cleansing
Cleansing is the most fundamental step in facial care. It gets rid of the dirt your face has accumulated during the day and old makeup. Cleansers come in the form of creams or lotions. Get the one that is perfect for your skin type. Never use ordinary soap as a cleanser. It has ingredients that may be harsh on your skin.
Toner
After cleaning your face, use a toner. It gets rid of residual dirt from your make up and the environment. In addition, it can help hydrate, revitalize and balance the pH of your skin.
Photobucket
Moisturize
The final step is moisturizing. Moisturizers keep the skin from drying out by rehydrating it. Before buying these products, make sure to read the label and stay away from products with chemicals that may damage your skin.
Note: Since cleanliness is an integral part of skin care, make sure that your brushes and sponges are clean before you apply cosmetics to your face. Brushes and sponges can be cleaned with your regular shampoo. Also, do not use expired cosmetics - keep track of their expiration dates.

After you have completed these three steps, here are a few simple tricks to help you put on your make up and enhance the natural beauty within you.

Start by applying cosmetic foundation over your face.
Photobucket
Eyes
Unless you are going to a party, bare minimum is the best. You can even get away with just applying mascara to make your eyes fuller. Nevertheless, if you insist on putting on an eye shadow, go with the browns. Make sure that your eyebrows are well groomed. It gives a more polished look. To help you camouflage those dark circles around the eyes, dab on a small amount of concealer makeup, but not too much to avoid that cakey look.
Photobucket
Lips
If you want a long wearing lip color, try this quick tip: Outline your lips with a lip liner that is a shade darker than your lipstick. Next fill it up with your lipstick starting from the middle going out. The last touch would be the lipgloss. Just like the lipstick, apply it from the center and avoid putting it on the corners of your lip to avoid smudging. Now, you have that sexy pouty lip.

Adding a bit of cheek color/tint (stick blush) is the last and final step.
